A Yuncu Kilim flatweave

194 x 159 cm 6,3 x 5,2 ft

Anatolia occidentale, area di Bergama

XIX. Secolo

This Kilim flatweave can be attributed to the curdish tribe of the “Yuncu”. Both, Kilim flatweaves and knotted pieces of the Yuncu show a special range of colors, based on blue, red, white and apricot. This flatweave is especially interesting for the use of mixed technique, palas kilim flatweave is combined with horizontal knotted stripes. The patterns are very abstract and geometric and give the piece a nearly “modern” expression.
